what will happen in episode iii?

alright everyone, star wars is nearly finished, just one more to go. so how exciting will it be? how exciting can it be? we already know pretty much everything that's gonna happen, right? let's take a look at what must happen.

· padme must give birth to twins, luke and leia

· padme must give, or have taken from her, luke so that he may grow up on tatooine with his uncle

· padme must raise leia during leia's first years

· padme must die sometime in leia's childhood

· leia must be given to bail organa of alderaan where she will be raised as a princess

· anakin must be separated from padme, or kept relatively unaware of his two children

· anakin must sink much deeper into the dark side of the force

· anakin must develop a closer relationship with chancellor palpatine

· anakin must receive injuries which necessitate his using of life-support armor

· palpatine will continue to increase his political power, probably becoming "the emperor" (the imperial senate will still be around, or at least spoken of in episode iv, so he may not have complete power yet. he may gain enough power to be recognized as the emperor, though since the bad guys in episode iv are referred to as "the empire")

· the empire will probably seize the clones from yoda and the jedi

· grand moff tarkin must come into power just below emperor palpatine

· r2-d2 and c3-po will come under the ownership of leia

· r2-d2 and c3-po will have their memory erased of tatooine (or be dumb enough not to know the place when they revisit it in episode iv)

· obi-wan kenobi must become a hermit on tatooine

· yoda must become a hermit on dagobah

· count dooku must die

· mace windu and all the other jedi who didn't die in episode ii must now die

· a young han solo must befriend chewbacca and lando calrissian

· a young han solo win a certain ship known as the millennium falcon from lando

· a young han solo must get into some serious smuggling trouble from jabba the hutt of tatooine

· a young boba fett must don his dad's armor and ship to become the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy

· the geonosians must provide the empire with plans for the death star

· a rebellion to fight the galactic empire must be set up.

i actually have a feeling that george lucas has something up his sleeve. he knows that we already know all of the above information. he could (and probably will) include a series of completely new events and let us piece together the entire plot in the context of all three movies (many events which will take place just in passing dialogue in the last three movies) so all events listed above don't necessarily have to happen. for example, han solo can just be introduced in episode iv.

with that in mind, this is what i think will happen: anakin, under the influence of palpatine, will rise up against count dooku and kill him in a fit of rage. with jedi authority, anakin takes control of the clones. the jedi council will come to know this and escort a pregnant padme away to alderaan, which further fuels anakin's anger. anakin completely submits to the dark side. The jedi council rises up to thwart him and will be victorious on geonosis and kamino (shutting down foreign mechanical and clone technology) but are completely outnumbered by the combined forces of palpatine, anakin, the clones and the geonosians. one by one the jedi will be picked off (several personally by anakin) and the new empire will gain complete control of all military. In the process, however, obi-wan will fight anakin and mortally wound him enough to require anakin to wear life-support armor. yoda, overseeing the attacks, will retreat to the swamps of dagobah where anakin and palpatine will never sense his presence and assume he is dead along with the rest of the jedi. obi-wan kenobi as well as c3-p0 and r2-d2 will also escape death and go to bail organa. organa and padme will begin the steps toward an underground rebellion (a long shot because it will be a rebellion completely devoid of the force) within the senate. knowing anakin would be drawn to his offspring, kenobi takes a newborn luke skywalker to tatooine where he also stays to keep an eye on him. leia remains in custody of the organa family to be raised a princess in politics.
