flashback:

This Valentine's Day was a peculiar one. For the first time in a long while I haven't put up little black hearts everywhere to show my true colors when it comes to the holiday. It's expected of me too. For the past few years I've also vented my feelings on the subject (or at least the public's perception of it) through words on whatever website I was controlling at the time. Don't believe me? Check out here and here. Also check out the flashback box.

So anyway, as many of you know, this year I've neglected the usual gloom associated with Valentine's Day. For one thing, I didn't even have a chance to think about not enjoying myself. Now I have a girlfriend. I only have time to care about not caring only if she feels cared for (could you follow that?).

So instead of having a party, I went out for V.D. Actually, I guess I stayed in. I made dinner for Charlotte and then we exchanged some small gifts. I got her some Lovespell body spray and she got me the most flattering like letter I've ever received. It kind of made my dinner pale by comparsion. We then watched Some Kind of Wonderful, one of my favorite sort of romantic movies.

I'd have to say Valentine's Day was a huge success. I don't like to think I sold out. I'm super proud of how it turned out. We didn't succomb to the greeting cards and unnecessary glut of the restaurant businesses. We made it a great night without the headache of a major holiday. The dinner was in private, the gift to her was actually a gift to me from someone else and her card was totally homemade. I'm proud of her. She's just like me, stickin' it to the corporate man on a corporate holiday.

Three days after Valentine's Day was her birthday and I bought her a cd by a well-established band on a major record label.

another year over

This year for my birthday I'm planning on cuddling up with myself and watch the same move I watch every year for my birthday: Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan. Never have I found a better movie that deals with aging so well. In the meantime, all y'all go get me gifts. My birthday is on the 27th (same day as the Oscars). Here's my list, which is actually pretty much my Christmas list (I hardly got anything I asked for for Christmas).
